Mat is an Albany area native with both stage and film credits. He is thrilled to be returning to Sleepless in Lake Placid for his fourth amazing year, having participated with Marist College last year in the “Audience Choice” short film, “Maybe Tomorrow.” Mat is energetic, fun-loving, and comedic, but can play it straight when needed, too.  After 3 previous Sleepless contests, he has a good idea of how to be a great team member both on screen and off.  Mat looks forward to being part of another great team and making another masterpiece this year, rain or shine!



Chris graduated from LaGuardia high school of performing arts (‘Fame’) and the 2 year conservatory program at William Esper studios in NYC at the top of his class and still trains to this day. Currently a stage combatant at the Metropolitan Opera (MET) constantly performing at Lincoln Center he has also appeared on numerous TV shows such as Law and Order: Criminal Intent and Guiding Light. He has also just recently finished filming a lead role in the independent film Aphids and continues to submerge himself in interesting independent projects.



Scott has been acting throughout the Northeast for the last four years. He has been in over thirty short films and four major motion pictures including BachelorettePredisposed, and The Place Beyond the Pines. Scott was most honored to win as best actor for the short film Purity of Image at the Lake Placid Film Forum in 2010. In addition, he continues to act in theatre, commercials, print ads, and documentaries.



Eydon is a student at Saranac Lake High School. She has performed with Les Grands Ballet Canadiens, North Country Ballet Ensemble, Community Theater Players, SUNY Plattsburgh and her school productions. Previous summer training includes American Ballet Theatre in NYC, Long Lake Camp of the Arts, New York Theatre Ballet/ Ballet School NY, Lake Placid School of Ballet and Mountains in Motion. This summer Eydon will be at UNCSA and the French Academie of Ballet.



This is Jon’s fourth year with the SiLP student competition. He has worked with SUNY Plattsburgh and SUNY Purchase in previous years. Locally, Jon has done The Fiddler on the Roof, Anne of Green Gables, The Sound of Music, and Bye Bye Birdie. Jon’s film in 2009, Memorize and Preserve, won the competition for SUNY Purchase.



Jessica Marshall is an actress, web show host and figure skater. She has spent most of her life performing, whether it is in front of an audience, in front of a camera, or in front of her cats (who just think she’s silly). This will be her third year volunteering with SILP and she is very excited to help out once again!




Michael studied acting and film at New York University and in Vermont with acting teacher Richard Waterhouse. He has appeared in numerous stage productions, commercials and short films. He is screening a short he wrote and directed, “Stations,” in the festival and is excited to be returning to act in the SiLP competition after enjoying past roles in “Cameron and Steph,” “Maple Conspiracy Syrup” and “Ripple.” Michael understands the hard work necessary to make a great short and he’s ready to be an asset to the team.



Best Actress winner at the 2010 Sleepless in Lake Placid Awards Showcase. Sunny is alumni of the ‘FAME’ school majoring in Dramatic Arts & Theatre Technics and has been blessed with lead roles in numerous theatre and film productions. Her most recent endeavor was directing & co-starring in CTP’s 2012 musical ‘Into the Woods’ to rave reviews. A ‘Jane of all trades’, she continues her career as vocalist, actress, director & screenwriter creating highly stylized, visually compelling productions. Sunny is thrilled to participate in her 4th Sleepless competition.



Best Actor at the 2011 Sleepless in Lake Placid Awards Showcase. Kevin is an award winning actor/filmmaker. When not on camera or stage, he enjoys producing, directing, writing and coaching. Kevin is the owner of the production company, MoBetta Films and is co-founder and owner of the premiere on-camera actor training company in NY’s Capital Region, Experience The Studio. Kevin is an advisory board member of Lake Placid Film Forum as well as WAM Theatre, President of Upstate Independents and Assistant Director of FilmColumbia Festival.



Dorothy is eager to be sleepless and young at heart again for her 4th year as an actress in SILP. She was humbled and surprised to receive the 2011 SILP “Best Actress” award which she attributes to working with such a dynamic, fun-loving young group of talented filmmakers and actors. Dorothy’s worked on numerous television/film/student projects as a member of SAG-AFTRA. Her recent acting credits include Diagnosis: Dead or Alive for the Discovery Channel and a co-leading role in Crime School, an award winning short on the festival circuit. She recently returned to her childhood home in Port Henry, NY where she enjoys spending her summer months.



Hanz hails from the North Country and lives in Hollywood where he’s worked like a dog wagging his way up to be featured in several student, indie films and TV shows to include Gilmore Girls, Grey’s Anatomy, Entourage and the Mentalist. This canine cutie is a real people pooch and poser who knows how to mind his Ps and cues on set. He’s pawsitively ready to go on “action” in the Adirondacks and be sleepless in Lake Placid. Hanz is available with actors Dorothy Wilber or Cynthia Wilber.



Cynthia resides in Los Angeles and has appeared in numerous stage, TV/film and independent productions.  She’s a member of SAG-AFTRA with current credits to include a co-lead role in “Godless,” a 2012 award winning short film.  Cynthia has worked in front of and behind the camera in various aspects of television and film.  Her formative years were spent getting up at 5am to skate in the LP Olympic Arena.  She’s looking forward to returning to the awesome Adirondacks to sip on energy drinks to stay up until 5am for SILP.



Veronica is excited to return for her third year as a participant in the 2012 Lake Placid Film Forum Student Competition. She was most recently featured in CTP’s 2012 production of Into the Woods as the Witch and in Chicago at the LPCA as a Billy Girl and dancer/singer in all of the chorus numbers. She studied drama at SUNY Albany and works as a Bookkeeper for Generations Restaurant in Lake Placid.



Drew is the Director of Choral Activities at Saranac Lake High School in Saranac Lake, NY where he conducts the Concert Choir, Festival Chorus, Men’s and Women’s Ensembles, teaches small-group vocal instruction, as well as Musical Director for the annual High School Musical. He is founding Artistic Director and Conductor of the Northern Adirondack Vocal Ensemble (NAVE) and is in frequent demand as an organist and pianist around the North Country. Benware also serves as Lecturer at Ithaca College, serving on the Summer Graduate School faculty where he conducts the Graduate Band, Graduate Chorus, and teaches courses in Wind Band Methods. He is also a faculty member at the Summer Music Academy Preparatory Division at the Ithaca College School of Music. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education with a concentration on the trumpet and a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from the Ithaca College School of Music.



Kelly is a Lake Placid native and looking forward to her first year participating in the 2012 Lake Placid Film Forum.  During her high school years she participated in numerous school musicals and plays. She obtained her B.A. in Studio Art from the International Academy of Design in Tampa, Florida and currently works in sales at the Golden Arrow.



Robert was born and raised in lake placid. He started acting around the age of 10 with the community theatre in the area. In his senior year of high school he played the role of Gaston in beauty and the beast and since then Robert has been in the Community Theatre Players’ productions of Fiddler on the roof and most recently Chicago in 2011. He is very excited to join the LP film forum crew. This will be his second Sleepless in Lake Placid Competition.



Karen is longtime actress known mostly for her work in the Films Lean On Me and Once Upon a Time When We Were Colored; Her
Television work on The Cosby Show, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, A Different World and The Proud Family; and for her stage work in The Ballad of Emmett Till, Crumbs from The Table of Joy and Chain.



Ever since being featured in Columbia Pictures’ The Other Guys, John’s passion for acting was ignited. He is happy to get involved with his second Sleepless in Lake Placid competition and is excited to continue his acting career.



Michael is a 14 year old hopeful actor recently coming out of the starring role of Jack in one of the most wonderful shows he has ever been in, Into the Woods. He has been in multiple shows over the years, including The Hobbit as Bilbo and many of the Rising Star productions as well as several shows at Pendragon Theatre and with the Community Theatre Players of Lake Placid. He thrilled to be involved in his first Sleepless competition.



It has been said, “She has a knack of bringing a sense of warmth and humor to her roles. Along with the innate ability to turn a phrase and land it with laser like accuracy.” With her belief, “what is for you is for you and no one can take it from you.” She continues to hone her skills in pursuit of being ready when the calls come.



Caitlin is a Vermont actor, photographer, and musician. She has appeared primarily in theatre productions with one short film credit. She greatly enjoyed the experience and is finding herself drawn more toward film as a performer. She is looking forward to the SiLP experience to increase her time on set (24 hrs. worth!) and make a great short film.



Since his first appearance at SILP last year Chris has been very busy working on multiple films. Knowing what it takes both in front and behind the camera he is ready to help make the best film possible. Chris helped Team Syracuse win The 2011 Robin Pell Award with their entry Return.



Heather is a native to the Adirondacks. She has been acting for over 15 years. Heather studied musical theater in Boston as well as professional vocal training for opera. Such credits include, The Sound of Music, Lend Me a Tenor, and Crazy for You. This will be her 2nd year involved in the student film making competition.



Kama is a 21-year-old musician and performer with over 15 years of stage experience. Her beautiful violin music adds elegance to many weddings, benefits and concerts; her animated dance style enlivens any performance across a variety of genres. Kama’s favorite stage experiences include jazz dancing and singing in Chicago the Musical (2011), a party person and Time Warp dancer in Rocky Horror Picture Show (2010), and playing the Fiddler in Fiddler on the Roof (2009). Kama is very excited to participate in Sleepless in Lake Placid again this year.



Soozie manages a recreational & healing retreat on nearby Rainbow Lake. Her most recent passion is Standup Paddle boarding & she looks forward to initiating her clientele into this up-and-coming sport. In recent years she has found herself on stage in odd costumes: ghostly Grandma Tzeitel in Fiddler on the Roof, a singing nun in The Sound of Music, & a sleazy jazz babe in Chicago the Musical. Her emotional intensity & contagious enthusiasm add depth & spice to any situation. This will be her third Sleepless in Lake Placid.



Elissa graduated from Ithaca College in 2011 with a degree in television/radio and has since graduated the actors workshop training studio in Ithaca. She had an awesome time at SiLP last year and is very excited to participate in the 2012 competition.



Christie Sausa is a figure skater, speed skater, journalist, and student from Lake Placid. She writes for several publications, including the Lake Placid News, Adirondack Almanack, the Free George, and Skating Magazine. Christie is under contract to write the history of figure skating in Lake Placid, due later this summer. Besides skating in a transition scene for an local independent film “Dancehall”, she has no acting experience. She is looking forward to writing about her “behind the scenes” acting experience, as well as reviewing films for the Free George!



Eric is looking forward to being a part of the competition again this year. He was a featured actor in the Burlington College entry from 2008, “American Cheese”, which won the people’s choice award & played Uncle Sam. He has been in several independent films including G-Rated which won People’s choice at The Ed Wood Film Fest in Albany NY in 2007. He is adept to comedy and dramatic work and looks forward to delving into new characters and working with individuals who take storytelling seriously.

    I have been involved in professional and amateur theater productions since the age of six, including a role in a production of Hansel and Gretel by the Pick of the Crop Theatre Company. I recently graduated from William Smith Colleges with a degree in Media and Society, with an emphasis on acting. I have received additional training at New York University and Actor’s Connection in New York City. I am excited to be given the opportunity to participate in the Lake Placid Film Festival.
