Do Movie Theaters Have A Future? Part 1

Do Movie Theaters Have A Future? Part 1 from t j brearton on Vimeo.

Recorded at the Place Theatre during the Lake Placid Film Forum on June 16, 2012, the panel discussion “Do Movie Theaters Have A Future?” examines the cultural and economic impacts of a conversion to the digital exhibition of movies, which could entail the loss of many independently-owned movie houses. Part 1 introduces the panelists – Bill Coppard (moderator), a theater owner; Betsy Lowe, a fundraising specialist, Gregory Orr, a filmmaker, and Nelson Page, a theater owner and founder of the Adirondack Film Society. Nelson begins to explain the core issue. This was recorded and edited somewhat on the fly, so please forgive any choppiness.
